Netherlands latest pop music queen Jocey
Jocey is a singer songwriter and producer with a great passion for music. Growing up in a musical family in the Netherlands in Apeldoorn, at just the tender age of 4 she began creating her own songs and lyrics, while her father was in charge of recording her singing efforts as her mother was also a Gospel singer and sang in a Gospel group named “Relation”. Jocey often joined her father watching her mother singing and she was very inspired from that young age by her mother’s singing.
At the age of 13 Jocey performed for the first time at her high school and since that performance, she wanted nothing else but sing. At the same school Jocey met someone who loved singing also and they became friends and decided to sing together. They entered many talent shows and performed in clubs. They were singing and taping their songs in studios and Jocey made her own demo-tapes.
When Jocey was just 15 she and her friend auditioned for a popular TV talent show in The Netherlands, called “The Soundmix Show”. They sang the song: “Endless Love” by Mariah Carey and Luther Vandross.
In high school Jocey performed in a musical named “Jesus Christ Superstar”. It was the first time she experienced singing in a musical. She liked it very much but she loved singing pop music even more.
In June 1999 she was accepted to the prestigious Conservatory in Utrecht. Most of the time she sang jazz and classical music but ultimately Jocey wanted to sing Dutch Pop music. So after a year she decided to quit her study in Utrecht.
At that point she joined a funk/soul/pop band, which featured the music Jocey likes to sing the most, which is soul and pop/dance music, expanding her skills and variety as a Dutch Pop singer. 1 year later she found out there was a pop department at the Conservatory in Rotterdam and decided to audition for this school and they offered her a place. This study took about 4 years before Jocey graduated and received her diploma. Jocey now has a great deal of experience in singing in cover bands and also writing and performing her own material in other bands with their own songs.
In 2005 Jocey was asked to join a tour with the Western Experience All Star Band and The Country Line Dance Machine. She joined the 7th Country Music Hall of Fame. Jocey has performed in almost every theatre in The Netherlands and Belgium.
Jocey is always very busy with writing and recording her own songs, spending her days in her studio at home working on her songs. This year she made her debut with her first single “I AM ME”, produced by Jocey herself. Her songs will be available for downloading on www.iamjocey.com.
Jocey follows a great tradition of Dutch Pop from the Netherlands including stars such as:

Why Your Child Needs Music Education
As we continue our conversation on the advantages of music education for children, I want to make sure you understand that music schools and private teachers do not have it in their agendas to make a great musician out of every student!
Have you ever talked to people who have completed only half of their music education? If not, then I recommend you do. Certainly, they had some difficulties in training, because studying is hard work! But I bet you’ll hear them say that they regret quitting. Later in life, people understand that the kind of push they received in their emotional and intellectual development was due to musical training in their childhood.
I talked to many adults who had taken music lessons as children. Some told me amazing stories about how the music helped them improve their memory (and not only musical). Others noticed that their spoken language became richer, and their voice more expressive. I’ve also met people who use their once-musically trained hands and fingers to do dainty, nimble work in skilful projects. For example, among these are many who work as secretaries or at jobs that are closely connected with a computer.
Children who study music can better and more expressively recite poems than other children. Many “musical” children grow up to be fine actors.
Also, very few people know that the most successful among those who are multilingual used to play musical instruments in childhood! And, the longer their training was as a child, the better their grip on foreign language speaking and comprehension as an adult! Ninety-five percent of polyglots used to or still play musical instruments.
Also, it is obvious that playing music makes the hands – and especially the fingers – of painters or artists quite skillful and capable. Having listed the advantages of music education, I’d like to add that former “musical” children, even if they did not become professional musicians, having grown up, regard their work with more responsibility and professionalism. They are pleasant to talk with because they love people. Due to their specially developed ear for music, “musical” people understand their relatives and children better. The majority of them are happily married, and they choose jobs that have to do with communicating and working with people. There are many teachers, doctors, personnel managers, lawyers, bank clerks, counselors, as well as translators, journalists, etc., among them.
Now, dear parents, hopefully I have dispelled all your doubts about choosing music lessons for your child and answered the question as to “Why I want my child to get music education.”
Yet having made such a serious and responsible decision, I am sure that many of you still have some doubts and questions. And those of you whose children have already begun training will come across certain issues and require assistance and guidance in resolving them from time to time.
Drawing from my own experience, I have noticed that while preparing children for music lessons, parents do not always use the recommended literature, which, unfortunately, is really hard to come by. Sometimes such books are written in “dry” and complex language not intended for easy reading and understanding.

Get Signed By A Record Label – Do You Need a Recording Contract to Become Popular and Get Noticed
If you want to get signed by a record label, chances are you have been focusing all of your efforts on sending out demos and playing gigs where you know scouts will be there. If you’ve done this for any length of time, you know that this route can quickly lead to burnout and disappointment. Now you’re probably thinking there has to be a better way to get a recording contract and/or make it huge in the music industry.
The good news is that there really is a better way to get your music out there and get heard. After all, if you try and submit demos to major record labels, how do you know if they’re even listening to them? You probably suspect that most major labels are just setting your demos aside and they’re getting lost in the shuffle. And you probably also suspect that unless you know someone at a label, getting a decision-maker to listen to your demo is next to impossible. So what should you do if your goal is to get signed by a record label?
Really, the answer is simpler than you think, and will show you results much more quickly than you thought possible. The answer is: You really don’t need a recording contract to become popular and get noticed. With the internet and social media, you can promote yourself and your music easily and for very little money. Get yourself out there as much as possible. Just forget about the record labels for awhile. Instead, get your own promotions together to get your music out there and heard by a large audience.
How do you do that? Start with a website. Or, if you don’t feel like you can do that on your own, then start with Youtube, Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter. Upload some of your music to Youtube and start participating in the community there. Start Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter accounts and add people from your area. When you have gigs booked abercrombie uk , announce them to as many people as possible. You will be surprised at how much this will affect your fanbase. And once you have a large fanbase, your music will be hard to ignore. With the way social media affects everything these days, the chances of a major record label finding you in this way is much more likely than playing gigs and hoping a scout shows up.

Cowon S9 16GB MP3 Player Review
With it’s slim, curved look, the Cowon S9 mp3 player has received a lot of hype, and it is well deserved. The curved edges make it fit well and feel great in the palm of your hand. Even though it is made of plastic, it still has a nice solid feel that you wouldn’t expect, and the touch screen is made of glass, which is a nice touch.
The interface of the touch screen is very nice and intuitive, and for people who prefer tactile use, there are buttons for all of the major functions, like volume, forward/reverse, pause/play, and hold. The buttons are extremely useful if you use your mp3 player while running or working out and keep it in your pocket. The one thing I must say is that the power button is sort of in an awkward place, being adjacent to the headphone jack, making it extremely difficult to access with headphones plugged in.
The library browser works great to quickly navigate your music selection, and you have the ability to zoom in on just about all of the screens. The user community has come up with several nice modifications to the default user-interface, but unfortunately none of these come with the base product. They are easily downloaded though, so I don’t consider that too big of a hassle.
The playback interface lets you take a look at file info, such as bit rate and file type, and there is also a display of cover art abercrombie , and it is all easily navigated. The thing I really enjoyed is the bookmarking feature that will remember where you were at in a file, and will also pull up an entire playlist for you. People who are fans of the coverflow feature on other mp3 players will also find that on the Cowon S9. However, you are currently unable to make dynamic playlists, just one favorites list.
And now we come to the AMOLED screen. It’s fantastic! The colors are sharp and contrast beautifully. The device uses a built-in accelerometer to flip or rotate your screen when utilizing music, movies, text, and photos. If I had to go with the best feature of this device, it would be the AMOLED screen.
The radio tuner isn’t great, but the sound quality is not bad. The radio user-interface is ok, too, but a little sluggish.
Quality of the Bluetooth audio is superb, and comes with all of the sound enhancement capabilities you expect from Bluetooth. The battery life is also excellent. It can run for hours on end without hardly losing any power.
Overall, you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck with the Cowon S9 mp3 player. I highly recommend it to people who are looking for a touch screen device.
